The mountains feel quieter today. Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja — the man who redefined what's possible in the Himalaya — has been lost to an avalanche on Broad Peak, taken by the very giants he spent his life humbling.

He climbed all 14 of the world's 8,000m peaks in just 6 months, shattering a record that stood for nearly 8 years. He led the first winter ascent of K2.
And in later years, he pushed even further — summiting without supplemental oxygen, stripping the climb down to nothing but lungs, willpower, and mountain.

He built the Nimsdai Foundation to fight for the Nepali and Sherpa climbers the world overlooked, and gave us all a reason to believe in impossible things.

When people doubted a Nepali soldier could rewrite mountaineering history, he answered simply:
"It's not in the blood."
So here's to you, Nimsdai. Thank you for showing us that the summit isn't just a place — it's a mindset.
