His floundering soul thrust and gasped,
Gargling for mercy as he choked and rasped,
He found no plank,and lone he sank,
With flailing limbs and water clasped.
He thrust no more, peace he chose,
Imperturbed in despair's throes,
The struggle had ceased,death had eased,
And what sank alive, in death now rose.
